This replaced our DeLonghi DCF212T coffee maker which died after about a year of use. This was the only negative thing I could find. I use high quality ground coffee and distilled water. You have to pour the water into the top and look straight down at the numbered indicator to see the water level and if you are a really short person like my wife (5 feet even) it is very difficult to do.
My wife and I love the design and how the coffee maker compliments our other kitchen appliances. I found no difference between the two. Some had said that paper coffee filters make a better cup of coffee then the gold re-useable filter. It makes a really good cup of hot coffee. Many controls to choose from and an easy to set clock. The hole where you pour the water in is very small and unless you have a good aim some of the water ends up in the coffee grounds or on the counter. I rated this product 5 stars because it makes a really great cup of coffee.
They both made equally good coffee. Bought this coffee maker about 2 months ago and simply love it. No complaints with the coffee making ability but the ergonomics could be a little better. I had been reading a lot of reviews of coffee makers before making this choice.
(It could also be the variety, & grinding it in a burr mill too). I have not yet cleaned it but think the self clean will be a great feature. Coffee has great flavor from this pot. Water is easier to add than I thought it would be and I like the carafe temperature control.
This coffee pot makes great coffee. We sure wish the controls and markings and clock numerals were a little larger, though (we have old eyes) -- this is the only reason we are rating it 4 stars instead of 5.
